Having all the skills of a pro athlete would be great. Jumping 4 feet in the air… Running a 4.2 forty… Having their phone number, however, would not be so great. Especially if you’re friends with Paris Hilton. Here at Juiced Sports Blog, we have first hand knowledge of how annoying it is to receive hundreds of calls asking for “LeBron James.” Last year, my friend and I created a fake page with a number of “celebrity phone numbers” listed.

At first, we were going to mess with some pizza joints in New York, but then our compassion kicked. More to the point, we thought it would be better not to risk any “legal retribution,” as if there actually was any law against posting a bunch of people’s numbers online as celebrity numbers without their approval. Besides, it would be funnier to put a number up as LeBron’s and see whom calls.

Ikenna (Okafor, cousin of Emeka) volunteered, because he did a better LeBron than me. As it turned out, his voice didn’t matter. Within hours of posting the WordPress page and linking it to a number of forums, we had 400 page views and dozens of calls that all went like this:

Ikenna: “Hello?”

Scared Guy Who Thinks He’s Talking to LeBron: (Hangs up.)

Twenty-four hours later, the same thing had happened, by Ikenna’s count, at least 200 times. When I was with him, it was rare to go a few minutes without his phone ringing. Remember back when Paris Hilton’s cell phone was hacked? Anyone who tried calling, say, Eli Manning to ask him why he wasn’t as good as his brother (His response: “Shut up.”) will remember how many times they had to call to get through. The effect wasn’t as extreme here because the link hadn’t had the same online promotion as Paris’ phone list. Even so, Ikenna was still getting calls weeks after he complained to me to take down the link. (Maybe that was because I posted the number itself on a few forums. Don’t tell him that.)

Even though I completed pissed him off posting his number online (though he consented), I still had his back when it mattered. Like when some punk from L.A. called and I gave him a talking to on why not to post athlete’s numbers online. Posing as LeBron’s agent, I accused him of posting the number, after finding his number on the recent calls log:

Me: “Hi, this is Mitchell Blatt from IMG. I’m LeBron James’ agent, and we have evidence that you posted his number online.”

Guy: “No, I didn’t.”

M: “Your number showed up on his call records.”

G: “I called it.”

M: “We have traced the internet IP code, and it got to you.”

G: [anger in voice] “I don’t know, I just called the number. It was already posted.”

M: “Could one of your friends have posted it on your computer?”

G: [distressed] “No, none of my friends did.”

M: “Alright, well, I just want to let you know that this investigation will continue, and you better watch your back. The King has his eye on you.

4) Steroids doesn't improve every aspect of your game—– Even though Lebron James has improved his shot he is still a mediocre shooter in my opinion decent at best. But mostly everything he does is in the lane, he's been in the league for several years now and his 3-point shooting/free-throw shooting is still mediocre, so possibly the only reason why he can do everything he does in the paint is because of his strength, physical play which you can get from steroid use.

5) Even guys that had become known as "the big athletic men" for example Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudamire, Ben Wallace do not have the body James possesses. Dwight is about 6' 11" 260-265 pounds he has 3 inches on Lebron and they're around the same weight. Amare is 6' 10" 250 pounds again 2 inches on James but same or not as heavy, and Ben Wallace is 6' 9" 240…none of them are as big, fast, and powerful as LBJ.

6) I know a lot of you say that steroids or human growth hormons (HGH) does not make you jump high or run fast then how come we hear about people in the olympics using some kind of human growth hormone to make them faster example: (Marion Jones), also not all steroids make you grow veins all over your body Yankees 3rd Basemen Alex Rodriguez was a steroid user and he was not excessively big or had veins all over his body, there are now state of the art roids that do different things to you body including undetectable.

You can call it a "Freak of Nature" all you want but i bet you ANYTHING if the NBA were to test Lebron for steroids or any kind of HGH he would with out a doubt test positive, the problem here is that the league would NOT test him simply because Lebron is the face of the league at this point and that would ruin the NBA's reputation turning into the new MLB.

Also you can say he worked hard to get his body size or what not but I'm pretty sure a lot of players in the NBA work just as hard as Lebron or more, what player in his position wouldn't want the size of Lebron ? Come on don't be ignorant guys. He is not a Center (even though he is bigger then a lot of them) but mostly all Centers are meant to stay around the paint so how does he get so many rebounds? he out muscles every other forward thats how.

All I'm saying is the next time you "Witness" #23 think about it. . .and maybe you too will realize that his body and athleticism is just not natural, and if ya don't want to believe me that he is on some kind of Performance Enhancers then that is on you but I can bet my life that he is and when the world finds out he is just remember that "I told you so".

A 24-year-old Arab American from Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night, despite stumbling in her evening gown.

Rima Fakih of Dearborn, Mich., won the pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip after strutting confidently in an orange and gold bikini, wearing a strapless white gown that resembled a wedding dress and saying health insurance should cover birth control pills.

Fakih, 24, a former New Yorker who was raised in Dearborn, Mich., beat out 50 other contestants, including runner-up Miss Oklahoma, for the grand prize.

When asked on stage how she felt about the big win, the petite brunette quipped, “Ask me after I’ve had a pizza.”

“I feel great. Thanks for hiring me, Donald Trump,” she said of the co-owner of the Miss USA pageant.

Fakih accepted her crown from Kristen Dalton, the outgoing Miss USA, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Born in Lebonon, she emigrated with her parents to the United States as a baby and attended Catholic school in New York City until her family moved to Michigan in 2003.

She is a graduate the University of Michigan-Dearborn with degrees in economics and business management. She plans to begin law school after her year-long reign.

Fakih nearly tripped on the train of her long, strapless gown during the evening-wear portion of Sunday night’s the competition, broadcast live on NBC.

In the interview segment of the event, she was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance. She said yes.

“I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance,” said Fakih, who was raised in a household that celebrates both Christian and Muslim faiths.

She told reporters she sold her 1998 Ford Taurus to pay the $800 entry fee for the Miss Michigan pageant.

In addition to winning scholarships and a wardrobe fit for a queen, Fakih will be given a luxury New York City apartment to live in while she’s Miss USA.

Fakih, an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer awareness, will compete for the Miss Universe title later this year.

She is already bracing for questions about her roots.

“I think it would prove that Arabs don’t always try to separate themselves, but instead are integrated into American culture,” she recently told the Global Arab Network.

“It would show the world that yes, there are Arabs that are beautiful not only in looks, but also on the inside,” she said. “There are Arabs that are caring, that are good people, and who love the country they live in. I think it would make the Arab image a more positive one.”

Other traditions point to a variety of locations as Robin’s “true” home both inside Yorkshire and elsewhere, with the abundance of places named for Robin causing further confusion.[6][7] A tradition dating back at least to the end of the 16th century gives his birthplace as Loxley, Sheffield in South Yorkshire, while the site of Robin Hood’s Well in Yorkshire has been associated with Robin Hood at least since 1422.[8] His grave has been claimed to be at Kirklees Priory, Mirfield in West Yorkshire, as implied by the 18th-century version of Robin Hood’s Death, and there is a headstone there of dubious authenticity.[9]

The first clear reference to “rhymes of Robin Hood” is from the late 14th-century poem Piers Plowman, but the earliest surviving copies of the narrative ballads which tell his story have been dated to the 15th century or the first decade of the 16th century. In these early accounts Robin Hood’s partisanship of the lower classes, his Marianism and associated special regard for women, his outstanding skill as an archer, his anti-clericalism, and his particular animus towards the Sheriff of Nottingham a corrupt official who persecuted the poor, are already clear.[10] Little John, Much the Miller’s Son and Will Scarlet (as Will “Scarlok” or “Scathelocke”) all appear, although not yet Maid Marian or Friar Tuck. It is not certain what should be made of these latter two absences as it is known that Friar Tuck, for one, has been part of the legend since at least the later 15th century.[11]

In popular culture Robin Hood is typically seen as a contemporary and supporter of the late 12th-century king Richard the Lionheart, Robin being driven to outlawry during the misrule of Richard’s evil brother John while Richard was away at the Third Crusade. This view first gained currency in the 16th century, but it has very little scholarly support.[12] It is certainly not supported by the earliest ballads. The early compilation A Gest of Robyn Hode names the king as “Edward,” and while it does show Robin Hood as accepting the King’s pardon he later repudiates it and returns to the greenwood.

The oldest surviving ballad, Robin Hood and the Monk gives even less support to the picture of Robin Hood as a partisan of the true king. The setting of the early ballads is usually attributed by scholars to either the 13th century or the 14th, although it is recognised they are not necessarily historically consistent.[13]

The early ballads are also quite clear on Robin Hood’s social status: he is a yeoman. While the precise meaning of this term changed over time, including free retainers of an aristocrat and small landholders, it always referred to commoners. The essence of it in the present context was “neither a knight nor a peasant or ‘husbonde’ but something in between.”[14] We know that artisans (such as millers) were among those regarded as “yeomen” in the 14th century.[15] From the 16th century on there were attempts to elevate Robin Hood to the nobility and in two extremely influential plays Anthony Munday presented him at the very end of the 16th century as the Earl of Huntingdon, as he is still commonly presented in modern times.[16]

As well as ballads, the legend was also transmitted by “Robin Hood games” or plays that were an important part of the late medieval and early modern May Day festivities. The first record of a Robin Hood game was in 1426 in Exeter, but the reference does not indicate how old or widespread this custom was at the time. The Robin Hood games are known to have flourished in the later 15th and 16th centuries.[17] It is commonly stated as fact that Maid Marian and a jolly friar (at least partly identifiable with Friar Tuck) entered the legend through the May Games.[18]

The early ballads link Robin Hood to identifiable real places and many are convinced that he was a real person, more or less accurately portrayed. A number of theories as to the identity of “the real Robin Hood” have their supporters. Some of these theories posit that “Robin Hood” or “Robert Hood” or the like was his actual name; others suggest that this may have been merely a nick-name disguising a medieval bandit perhaps known to history under another name.[19]

The history of the Castle complex has had three distinct eras – the original Norman Castle, the Ducal Mansion still present and today’s Nottingham Castle museum.

Originally constructed in 1067, the Castle was first built from wood for William the Conqueror before being replaced by an impenetrable stone fortress during the reign of King Henry II. Nottingham Castle’s strategic position near the crossing of the River Trent made it popular with nobility, as did its proximity to the regal hunting grounds of the Royal Forest of the Peak, Barnsdale and Sherwood Forest.

The Castle’s Robin Hood connection dates back to the Third Crusade, when the Sheriff of Nottingham occupied the derelict residence while Richard the Lionheart went to war. Over the years the Castle witnessed many of their run-ins and a statue of Robin Hood lurking in the shadows of the Castle wall commemorates their relationship to this day.

The Castle was the focal point of many historic battles over the centuries – who could be surprised for a stake in this prime piece of real estate?! 1330 saw teenage King Edward III take siege on the property via ‘Mortimer’s Hole’, part of its network of caves, to arrest his mother and her lover Roger Mortimer, 1st Earl of March.

The Castle fell into disrepair in the 16th century as the focus of many political conflicts and was burned to the ground in 1649. But the site wasn’t dormant for long. Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle started building a ‘Ducal Mansion’ on the Castle foundations 25 years later. Although there wasn’t much left of Nottingham Castle above ground, the Mansion inherited its extensive rock-cut cellars and cave passages.

The Mansion was too burned down in 1831 but restored 34 years later as Nottingham Castle Museum to house the city’s fine and decorative art collections and exhibitions on its history and archaeology.
